“Ads sell more than products, they sell values, they sell images, they sell concepts of love, sexuality, success, and perhaps most importantly normalcy. To a great extent they tell us who we are and who we should be”

Jean Kilbourne.

This collection of images concerns themselves with the over sexualized, stereotypical and cliché way women are portrayed within contemporary media.

Through the genre of street photography, these images place real women in a comparative position to that of the advertised female persona on today’s high street.

The images focus on the minimal, ageist and stereotypical depiction of the feminine gender sold to us through image based adverts and highlights the incoherent or incomprehensive representation of the everyday women sold to us in this way.
